My issue with the movie is that it potrayed the man as the only offender in the marriage. It showed all his faults and weaknesses but never adressed hers. There are deeper issues that are never addressed, for example why does he lust after porn? It never addressed what needs of his besides sex are not being addressed. It does not talk about the other stresses of life that affect both partners. It was a good message, however it only skimmed the surface. The other problem that I have is that she will never trust him. How can that build a healthy relationship going forward. It also does not address what needs of her that are not being met. The old adage is that it takes two, well in marriage it takes two. Both people have issues, the lines of communication are broken, they have to fix that going forward. Also, sometimes people change for the better and sometimes for the worse. The whole focus was on him, where it should be on both.

Beautiful message. I visited the Luminous Cross today, I wanted to be near God and asking for more peace and love in my life. I wish more people would believe in God and repent to save themselves while they still can. I pray everyday for all of us to believe in God. God is good he would not hurt us. He loves us, we need to build a relationship with him. He will answer our prayer, be patient and pray.

Actually I have to agree with you. With our children gone this last Saturday (Grandma & Grandpa's), my husband and I thought it'd be nice to have a little "date" and watch this movie together.

Like you I was disturbed by the family prayer around the dinner table and the glance I got from my dh told me he was thinking the same thing! Then, the very scene you mentioned - the one where the two men are in the little chapel - where Mac is crying and says (or prays), "I'm sorry...," and Sam tells him that God forgives him, caused both of us to sit up and go,"HUH?!"

In fact, my husband actually stopped the film, scratched his head, and said, "What a minute! Did I miss something? Did that guy just tell him that he's forgiven by God after that?" I, sitting rather dumbfoundedly, could only reply with, "Uh, I dunno'. Rewind it and see."

So there it is - just say "sorry" and everything's alright? Yet we know that Mac did not understand the gospel because every time his partner had even SLIGHTLY referred to God, he was resistant and unwilling to listen. But now he can just say "sorry" and that's supposedly equivalent to repentance and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ?

Wow, what a disappointment. I really had wanted to like this movie and had high hopes when we rented it! That said, I really appreciate you taking the time to review it.

I am a Christian and I have seen Fireproof, Facing the Giants and Sherwood pictures very 1st movie Flywheel.. That being said I am glad this movie was a little different.. It was an AWESOME movie that was a little slow but had a great message... Unlike the other movies mentioned you could actually recommend this one to your "non-believer" friends and they might actually watch it because it doesn't share the word like the others but it still shares the message..
Another one I highly recommend is Soul Surfer..

When we go fishing, we can use tools such as a fishing pole, fishing line, bate, ect...
I liken these types of movies to that very thing. I plan on showing the dvd, making some good food, and inviting a few people that will have questions, as we sit and discuss points that may have not been stated, such as the scripture Acts 4:12~..."There is no other name given unto men under heaven by which we may be saved..." It is our responsibility to know it and share it, whether it's stated clearly in the movie or not. Use it as a tool! :o) It was filmed much better than the "Christian Movies" of the 80's!

I'm a Police officer from Enterpise, Al. And I worked here when we were hit by a tornado in 2007 we worked 31 days straight. I said that to say this Chief Hallmark is absolutely correct when he talks about the guilt you feel about being away from your family.

I met Chief Hallmark when I was deployed with the Region 2 response team to Hackleburg. He is truly a Christian man that leads that way. Hackleburg was completely decimated. It is the saddest thing I've seen in the forty three years I've walked this earth. They will need help and support for some time to come so IF you can help them!

Hey I love it! Great ideas. I do the tract stuffing of books as well. I didn't know if anyone else had realized the effectiveness of this method. Also I'm all for using the pre-paid envelopes. If its already paid for why not use it for good.

Most likely the person opening the mail is some lanky teenager working in the mailroom who really needs the gospel truth anyway.

I appreciate finding your review on the internet. I was looking to see if the movie was still playing and I found your site. I really honor your opinions and insight about the message of the Gospel and how it did or did not relate in the movie. My husband was in law enforcement and in drug interdiction. He is a true life example of someone living through losing a child and God bringing him through the dark valley of doubt, anger and depression. He has lived through the crisis of his faith and is on the other side with healing. Our daughter died 6 years ago at the hand of a drug dealer, and a drug overdose that my husbands believes was a hot shot given her after a night of domestic violence. My husband is also a minister and worked in Police bi-vocationally to support our large family. The movie seemed to have so many parallels with with his life. I found a track on "You have a right to remain silence" at our library posting board. I took it home, went on this web and watched the video ( plus others on youtube ) In 2004 our county turned down a ParksnRecreation plan for our youth and families, we literally have nothing here for any of them to do, not even jobs. But they passed a multimillion dollar bond for a new jail. Now 2011, our sheriff is asking for a levy on homeowners for more police. I said in 2004, if you seek no preventation, nor care for your youth and families welfare you will get what you pay for.....Our countys teen and youth adult death rate is epidemic through suicide and accidents. They are the most incarcerated, and oppressed by fines, fees, jail,and endless mental health classes.Hope is not an option. Our families can not afford to repay Obama bucks and more taxes with no jobs, utilities rising. And still there is nothing for our youth and families but misrery and oppression. We do not believe the people are to be used to create revenue. This is not how a town should make its money. At the time our jail was built so were new elementary schools, they stopped calling them classrooms and now call them PODS, ironically they also called the new jail units PODS. It appears this was by design and distruction of its people. We do believe in the Constitution, due process and life, liberty and happiness for all of us including officers which we call PEACE OFFICERS......We hope this program for PEACE OFFICERS being united in oath and committment to God will assure the people that type of Peace Officer intented to protect the people he/she represents. We pray it will also bring a humility to Police Officers who do not know God but this program will help soften their hearts and be the men and women God demands of them. I am impressed and happy to see more and more officers seeking this path ! Blessings to you all for your good intentions and work, may it provide good fruits of your labor !
