Mouths are Closed in Burbank

"Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin" (Romans 3:19-20).

Time and time again I have seen the truths of this passage come alive in conversations with unsaved people. Our time in Burbank this evening was no different. Mouths were closed tonight--not by our team's ability to win arguments, but by simply applying the Law to unregenerate souls, in a lawful way (see 1 Timothy 1:8).

In the above picture, my friend, Mike, and I are seen talking to Max and Jonathan. To his credit, Max recognized the fact that he was a false convert. He told me that at one point in his life he made a profession of faith, but later fell away. He referred to himself as agnostic, citing his belief that a good God shouldn't judge those who are trying to do good.

Listen to my conversation with Max and Jonathan to see how the Law of God quickly overcame Max's objection.

Another conversation I had tonight was with Celeste and Samantha--two 13-year-old girls who were handing out near the movie theater. Both girls go to a private, Catholic school. They both readily admitted that they were not good people. Celeste, however, came up with an interesting justification for breaking God's Law. She said that she only violates the Ten Commandments in order to help people.

Listen to how the Law, biblically applied, closes this young girls mouth and helps her to realize that she is without excuse.

The entire team engaged people in conversation tonight. Many people heard the Law and the Gospel. Some were humbled, some were not. But many seeds were planted. All in service to and for the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
