AOG Project: Updated Testimonies

We are continually blessed each day by testimonies of those that need ballistic vests and have donated vests. Here are a few e-mails that we received over the last week:

"I received my vest on Wednesday afternoon.  My wife quickly called me and sounded like we have won the lottery.  She was very happy and stated the vest looked brand new.  As I arrived home I could not believe how in good shape the vest was.  I want to thank you very much for the vest.  It fits perfect and I feel more at ease.  I strongly believe in the word of god and signs and every morning when I put my vest on I say a prayer and kiss my family goodbye.  Once again thank you so much god bless you-"

"I have worked at the jail for 3 years now and have been a reserve deputy since May and was riding along on my off days before that. I love my job and would love to know I am safer while doing this dangerous job. I appreciate your ministry and what you do for my fellow officers. Thanks again!"

"We are a small rural agency, with a population of approximately 1900. Approximately 4 months ago we lost 33 percent of our revenue to our one and only grocery store being destroyed by fire. We have 5 full time officers including the Chief of Police."

"I am interested in trying to get a vest. I think this program is awesome. I didn't have and couldn't afford a vest. I would feel very blessed if I was able to get one. Thanks for your help. "

"I am a reserve officer who volunteers and is out of paid work. Even though I have medical problems with my legs that causes pain I am able to give 20+ free hours to this struggling community ever month. I drive 94 miles round trip each time I go in. I spent my last saving to pay for my duty equipment but I have no money for a ballistic vest. I was a certified police officer 18 years ago and after 5 years I went into the insurance industry. Even though I am 50, since I was laid off from my insurance job in 2007 I sat around thinking about my foot pain. I prayed I would feel better, but my prayer was answered by volunteering as a police officer again to help the community and take my mind off the pain. I really could use a nice thin vest. That is my prayer."

Please consider helping our efforts either through prayer or financially. You can read additional testimonies here.

Sergeant Tom O'Connor Update

Over a year ago, I wrote about Pennsylvania State Police Sergeant Tom O'Connor and his battle with a rare form of cancer. Tom's story really impacted me. His age, the age of his kids and his service with PSP were all very similar to myself.

I sent a message to our Ten-Four Ministry Family and you responded in an unbelievable way. Through our 10-33 Fund, we were able to help Tom and his family with the financial burden of battling a deadly disease. Since the inception of the 10-33 Fund, which exists to help officers and their families in financial distress, you gave more than any other time.

Many of you sent not only financial contributions but personal letters and prayers to Tom and his family. It was an incredible blessing not only to the O'Connor Family but for me as well.

I am saddened to report to you that last week, Tom lost his battle with cancer. You can read a story on his death here.

Please pray for Tom's family and thank you once again for your love for him while he was here with us.

We will soon be announcing additional fellowships across the country.

Armor of God Project & Guatemala

The Armor of God Project is now in four countries including the United States, Philippines, Guatemala and soon Costa Rica.

We have had several countries inquire about vests but we only send vests if several factors are guaranteed with personal contacts within the country to receive the shipping, the confirmation that the vests will be given to sworn officers and the Gospel will be presented to the officers that receive the vests.

Recently, the Colbert/Lauderdale County Alabama Baptist Association sponsored a mission trip to Guatemala and they took 24 vests with them.

A member of the Alabama Baptist Association speaks with Guatemala Officers.

Four Guatemala Officers that received Ballistic Vests professed faith in Jesus Christ. You can see them here with their Bibles.

The Guatemala Officers are seen here wearing their vests and holding their newly issued Bibles.

Armor of God Project - Second Officer Shot

If you have been following Ten-Four Ministries, you have no doubt been aware that over 400 ballistic vests have been given out for free to Police Officers across the world including the United States.

These Officers for a variety of reasons had been working the streets without a vest to protect them. Let me encourage you to help us spread the message about this project by telling others to visit the official website at www.vestforlife.com.

Here is a recent testimony:

"Lt. Reck, my vest arrived Saturday, I can't belive how light this one is compared to the 12 year old one I used to have....with the ripped up carrier. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am. Thanks again and may God richly bless you all!"

The Project was recently featured in Law Officer Magazine.

Two Officers have been shot and saved wearing vests from this Project. The second officer saved in August 2009 is seen above.

The Mobile Police Department (Above Video) is the latest Agency to join our efforts.

The Board

We still have a few copies of The Board left in our store. It is a wonderful, powerful movie about the conversion of a soul. Orders of $25 or more come with free shipping.

The Board Movie is the inside story of one human soul…wrestling with the ultimate decision. A dilemma is posed and a battle ensues. One-by-one the power brokers of the soul – Mind, Memory, Emotion, Heart, Will, and Conscience – step forward to weigh in. The stakes couldn’t be higher. The outcome has consequences for eternity.

This is a wonderful movie with a great Gospel presentation, this movie is great for the Christian and also serves as an ideal witnessing tool. You can see the trailer of the movie below.

Sand Springs P.D. Joins the Armor of God Project

I had the privilege to personally give out a ballistic vest at the Sand Springs (OK) Police Department today. The Sand Springs Police Department recently announced they are joining us in our efforts to give a vest, free of charge, to any sworn officer that needs one. Porter Police Officer James Renfro received the vest along with several resources that present him with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We would like to thank Sand Springs Police Chief Daniel Bradley for hosting the Armor of God Project.

You can read the statement I gave to the media below.

Statement given on September 1, 2009 at the Sand Springs Police Department.

I would like to first thank the Sand Springs Police Department for hosting us today and I will explain in detail a little later why we are here.

I would like to specifically recognize Sand Springs Police Chief Daniel Bradley and Sand Springs Assistant Chief Mike Carter. Thank you all for being here today.

We are gathered here today to give out yet another bullet proof vest.

Before we do that, let me briefly give you the background on this important project known as the Armor of God Project. In August of last year, Muscle Shoals (Alabama) Police Lieutenant Clint Reck was asked to send used ballistic vests to the Philippine National Police. He was made aware that their patrol officers were not issued vests. Lt. Reck sent 24 used vests from his agency and those vests were given to officers serving with the Philippine National Police.

Within a few days after receiving the vests, a Philippine National Police Inspector attempted to make a traffic stop and a short pursuit ensued. When the suspect exited his vehicle, he pointed a gun to the chest of Inspector Ricardo Dalmacia and shot him. The vest from Alabama, saved his life. We have since met Inspector Dalmacia and have documented a detailed interview on our website about the incident.

What was intended to be a one-time donation, was changed the day that one life was saved. We officially launched The Armor of God Project under the Ministry of Ten-Four Ministries located right here in this community. Ten-Four Ministries is a non-profit 501c3 Organization which has existed since 2002 to provide practical and spiritual support to the law enforcement community.

Since April 2009, we have donated 129 vests to officers in America, 237 to officers in the Philippines and 25 to officers in Guatemala.

I am also pleased to announce that just last week, another life was saved by a vest this Project has given out. While attempting to arrest a kidnapping suspect, Philippine Officer Gilbert Camaclang was shot and the vest he was wearing saved his life. To date, 391 vests have been given out and 2 lives have been saved.

The premise is simple. There are many agencies that are given vests every 5 years and after those 5 years, the agency replaces the vests. Many of these used vests are still in very good condition and it our desire to place these used vests on the backs of Police Officers across the world that do not have vests.

All of this is done free of charge and through the generosity of individual donors, we are able to ship vests from donating agencies to our warehouse, refurbish those vests and send those vests to any sworn Officer that is in need.

We are here for two reasons today.

We are pleased to announce that the Sand Springs Police Department has come along side us and agreed to donate their vests to us on a yearly basis. They join agencies in over 10 states such as Rochester (New York), Mobile (Alabama) and the West Virginia State Police to make this Project possible.

We also come here today to give out a vest to Porter Police Officer James Renfro.
